King James (English King James Version, KJV) - Bible translation into English, performed under the patronage of King James I of England and released in 1611. Until now, King James wore the approved status, "authorized" translation of the King (born Authorized Version), although, unlike previous "authorized" transfers from the Great Bible, published under Henry VIII, in fact, no royal " approval "was never received.
Establishing a new translation of the Bible was put before the King group of puritans, led by the Rev. John Reynolds. To resolve it, King James I convened in January 1604 the so-called Hampton Kortskuyu conference where he discussed a number of errors in previous translations, in the first place, officially adopted by the Anglican Bishop's Bible, and it was decided to create a new translation. Transfer is 47 interpreters - members of the Anglican Church. Source for the translation of the New Testament, as for most other English translations of the time, served as the Greek Textus Receptus. The Old Testament is translated from ivritamasoretskih texts) deuterocanonical books - from the Greek Septuagint, but the second book of Esdras (in the Slavic tradition - the third), translated from the Latin Vulgate.
